How to edit a pdf document : By Bothwell Riside

 PDF (Portable Document Format) is a popular file format for sharing and distributing documents. However, sometimes you may need to edit a PDF file, which can be a little tricky. Fortunately, there are several applications that can help you edit a PDF, such as Microsoft Edge, Adobe Pro, and Canva. In this blog, we will explore how to edit a PDF using these three applications.

Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge is a web browser that can be used to edit PDF files. To edit a PDF file using Microsoft Edge, you need to open the document in the browser. Once the PDF is open, you can use the controls on the top of the window to edit the document. 

You can erase parts of the document, draw on top of it, add text, highlight sections, and more. Once you have finished editing the PDF, you can save it as a new copy or overwrite the existing one. To save a new copy, click on "Save As" and choose a new name and location for the file. To overwrite the existing file, click on "Save."

Adobe Pro

Adobe Pro is a powerful application for editing PDF files. To edit a PDF using Adobe Pro, you need to open the document in the application. Once the PDF is open, you can use the tools on the right-hand side by selecting tools and then you will see a lot of options.  You can edit text, add new text, add images, and more. You can also use the tools to highlight sections of the document, draw on top of it, and add comments.

 Once you have finished editing the PDF, you can save it as a new copy or overwrite the existing one.

Canva

Canva is a graphic design platform that can be used to edit PDF files. To edit a PDF using Canva, you need to upload the document to the platform. There are two ways to upload. If you go to www.canva.com you must just drag and drop the file and you will be able to edit any element in it . You can also go on to create a design and then select import file as shown below. You will be able to upload your file 

Once the PDF is uploaded, you can use the tools on the left-hand side of the screen to edit the document. You can add new text, images, shapes, and more. You can also use the tools to change the colour and size of the elements in the document. Once you have finished editing the PDF, you can download it as a new copy or overwrite the existing one.

How to live well in Cambodia

I would like to share a few insights regarding my experiences in Cambodia. These are observations I have made during my time here and I hope they will be helpful to others.

1. Smiling: It is important to smile when interacting with local people as this can help to convey a friendly and non-threatening demeanour. Some people for me, have a naturally aggressive tone in their voice, which can sometimes be misinterpreted as anger. Smiling can help to dispel this notion, especially when speaking to the Khmers.

2. Showing Respect: The local people in Cambodia appreciate it when you greet them with your hands placed together and a bow. Speaking a little bit of Khmer can also make them feel honoured and valued. They often feel that they are disliked by others, so a kind gesture can go a long way.

3. Communication: It is common for Khmers to say "don't have" or "otmean" when communicating with you. This may be because they have not fully understood what is being said. Even students do the same. They may just say, "No". With the language barrier, it may be embarrassing for them to keep on asking for clarification. To avoid misunderstandings, it is best to re-explain what you are trying to communicate, possibly with the aid of pictures or illustrations. In most cases, if they say "no," they actually do have what you are looking for.

4. Interacting in Shops: When entering shops, the customer attendants may follow you or simply ask, "Can I help you?" This is not intended to be rude, but rather to make you as comfortable as possible. The Khmers are kind-hearted people who love people and are not as racist as one might think. However, it is important to know that government officials may try to capitalize on any opportunity to extract money from you. This is not because of racism, but because they want to make a profit.

5. Voice Projection: People from Africa, and America have a naturally thick and loud voices. This is because they are tall and big. Of course, you can't expect them to speak like a toddler. Neither should you expect a truck to produce the same sound output as the scooter? However, when speaking to Khmers, it is important to speak in a quiet and gentle tone. Speaking too loudly or shouting can make them feel uncomfortable and may be perceived as aggressive. To avoid this, it is best to speak softly, especially when speaking over the phone or with peers.

6. Making an Impression: It is important to be mindful of your behaviour as you are a representative of your country. People may judge your entire nation based on the actions of one individual. Remember how some nationals, we all know have made a bad name not only for their countries but for the entire region and etc. It is essential to avoid criminal activities and to conduct yourself in a positive and professional manner. Negative comments about your country should also be avoided as this can impact the perception of your country in a negative way.

7. Being United: It is unfortunate that politicians have divided people based on racial, tribal, political, and economic lines. However, it is important to put aside these differences and come together when faced with challenges or difficulties.

This means schools that are riddled with a higher teacher turnover show that there is a fissure somewhere in the school system. A school with a sound staff retention policy is likely to benefit from its current staff whom it is capable of developing professionally.

In order to understand the effects of high teacher turnover, it is important to consider both the advantages and disadvantages. One of the advantages of high teacher turnover is that it can bring fresh ideas and perspectives into a school. New teachers can bring new teaching methods and approaches, which can help to revitalize the educational experience for students.

However, high teacher turnover also has several disadvantages. One of the most significant disadvantages is the disruption to the continuity of projects and programs within the school. When teachers leave, the school must spend time and resources finding and training new teachers, which can disrupt the educational experience for students. Additionally, when teachers leave, they take their knowledge, expertise, and relationships with them, which can lead to a loss of institutional memory and a decreased sense of community within the school. It is good for schools to always fight to keep their teachers wherever possible.

Another disadvantage of high teacher turnover is the potential negative impact on student achievement. Research has shown that students who have consistent, stable relationships with their teachers tend to have better academic outcomes than those who experience frequent teacher turnover (Boyd, Goldhaber, & Lankford, 2004). This is because students need time to build relationships with their teachers and establish trust, which can be difficult when teachers are constantly coming and going.

The impact of high teacher turnover can be even more pronounced in international schools. This is because these schools often serve a diverse student population and require a high degree of cultural competency from their teachers. When teachers leave, it can be difficult for the school to find replacement teachers with the same level of cultural competency, which can lead to a decrease in the quality of the educational experience for students.

Furthermore, high teacher turnover in international schools can also affect the recruitment and retention of students. When students and their families see a high teacher turnover rate, they may question the stability and quality of the school, which can lead to decreased enrollment and increased competition for new students.

In conclusion, high teacher turnover can have a significant impact on the culture of an educational institution.
